About 20,000 Australians obtain loans through microfinance organisations, such as Good Shepherd Microfinance, every year.
In South Australia alone the figures are expected to double from 1,000 to 2,000 by the end of 2017.
The lenders have put their focus on South Australia’s economic challenges at a conference in Adelaide.
